1950 Revere Home Construction Photos

Architect: David B. Runnells
Designed: 1949
Builder: Donald Drummond
Built: Circa 1950-1951
Size: 1400 sq. ft. 3 bedroom 1 bath (some 2 bedroom and some 1 ½ bath versions built)

These photos, taken by an amateur photographer, show Drummond's Revere Homes being built on Roe Circle in Prairie Village, Kansas. The photos were probably taken sometime during the winter of 1949-1950. Notice the footings of the houses being dug by hand. It is also interesting to note the brickwork being done and the nearby homes that are framed and awaiting wood window walls to allow them to be finished. Also notice the innocuous looking creek that would nearly lead to the demise of these homes because of flooding. Today this creek is a concrete lined flood control project that is the headwaters of Brush Creek.
